Happy Holidays from Big Red Network 1 comment
The BRN team would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.
We thought about doing one of those cheesy commercials that you see on TV where the cast of a sitcom or local news team is sitting on a couch wearing Santa hats and in unison says, "Happy Holidays!"
But, we thought this video of Christmas lights set to Hail Varsity was a better way to share the true message of the season.
Merry Bowl Season everyone!
Introducing Tom & Brandon 6 comments

Our action news team is expanding. Today, I'm happy to announce that Brandon Vogel and Tom Cudd are joining the Big Red Network. Those names may be familiar to those of you who have been around here a while.
Brandon has been covering the Huskers (among other topics) at hiplainsdrifter.com for the past three years. And Tom is one of our first and most prolific commenters. You probably know him as Doombob.
Add the 2007 Husker Football Schedule to your Calendar 11 comments

You're at work filling out your TPS report when your boss calls. He wants to know if you can go ahead and come in on September 15th. M'kay?
The fifteenth. The fifteenth. You know something is going on that day but Outlook says your day is clear. Before you can think of an excuse you tell him, "Sure Bob. I'll be there." You hang up the phone. And then it hits you.
The Huskers play USC on September 15th! Oh, the humanity!
First of all, you should never work for a company that makes you work on Husker football game days. Second, just to be safe, you should download our 2007 Husker Football Schedule and add it to your calendar.

My favorite part of this "job" is reading all of the great comments that you folks contribute. There have been lots of vigorous debates and quite a few fans from opposing teams chiming in. Yet, the discussions are mostly polite and always enlightening. We've received over 800 comments this year and I can only think of one or two that we had to delete because they were excessively profane or threatening. (Hey, that's pretty good for a blog.)
We appreciate all our readers, but we really love those who stick their neck out to voice their opinion. Here is a sample of the great comments that we received this year from our most frequent commenters.

The Best of Big Red Network 2006 3 comments
2006 was a banner year for the Big Red Network. OK, it was our only year (we launched in April), but the reception we received from Husker fans (and haters) has been tremendous. Now that the season is behind us, we thought it would be appropriate to pause and take a look back at the past year.
So, please indulge us in our navel gazing and read on for a recap of our most popular stories from 2006.

Happy Thanksgiving! 8 comments
On this Turkey Day 2006, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued support of the Big Red Network. We started this little experiment eight months ago, not knowing what to expect. The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Thanks to our readers, our newsletter subscribers and most of all, fine folks like Scott, Josh, Red in Colorado, Katie, Bart, Grant and many others who leave comments and elevate the level of discussion every day.
Also, I'd personally like to send a big shout out to the BRN Team. Steve, Darren, Renny and Luke, thanks for all of your hard work that makes this site hum every single day.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Open for business! 0 comments
The reason we started Big Red Network was because we weren't satisfied with the Husker sites that were already out there. So, we started writing stories that we would want to read and hoped that there were others out there who would enjoy them, too. (Thanks for being one of those people.)
Then we went shopping for some new Husker gear and realized that we didn't like any of the typical stuff that was out there. So, we decided to design Husker t-shirts that we would wear. We created two designs that you probably haven't seen before and printed them on the highest quality shirts we could find. We even took the risk of ordering a few extra in case some of you are tired of the standard gear, too.
So, we are officially open for business!
Oh, and we are donating 5% of the profits to the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Athletic Department. So, while you're wearing your new threads you can feel good knowing you're helping out NU.
What are you waiting for? Visit the Big Red Network Store. If you order today you'll be wearing your new shirt at next week's game!
Welcome to the BRN Luke Jameson! 0 comments
We have added a third writer to the crack staff here at the Big Red Network. Please welcome Luke Jameson!
Luke is a native of Minden, Nebraska, home of the Whippets. He is a junior at UNL and when he's not chasing down hot stories for us, he writes for the Daily Nebraskan. He also enjoys puppy dogs and long walks on the beach.
You can read more about Luke and the rest of our excellent team on the About page.
We didn't know what a Whippet was either.
